It gathers the lecture notes from the mini-course presented by Jean-Christophe Mourrat on the construction of the various stochastic “basic” terms involved in the formulation of the dynamic Ö4 theory in three space dimensions, as well as selected contributions presented at the fourth meeting on Particle Systems and PDEs, which was held at the University of Minho’s Centre of Mathematics in December 2015. The purpose of the conference was to bring together prominent researchers working in the fields of particle systems and partial differential equations, offering them a forum to present their recent results and discuss their topics of expertise. The meeting was also intended to present to a vast and varied public, including young researchers, the area of interacting particle systems, its underlying motivation, and its relation to partial differential equations. The book will be of great interest to probabilists, analysts, and all mathematicians whose work focuses on topics in mathematical physics, stochastic processes and differential equations in general, as well as physicists working in statistical mechanics and kinetic theory.” 9783319668390 2132084 0 16647.2 17479.59 9783319668390 https://thumbnails.kitaboo.in/temp/cover/9783319668390.jpg From Particle Systems to Partial Differential Equations \\N EBOOK 2026-01-27 09:30:44 \\N \\N \\N \\N Functional analysis & transforms \\N \\N \\N \\N \\N Springer Proceedings in Mathematics & Statistics 9783319668390 \\N Springer International Publishing Functional analysis & transforms \\N \\N \\N \\N \\N 2017-11-15
40 1 35313 2026-01-05 17:34:06 0 https://thumbnails.kitaboo.in/publisher/logo/gardner.png Springer International Publishing /springer_international_publishing 1113510 1 \\N ePub 5596 https://thumbnails.kitaboo.in/temp/cover/9783319668789.jpg 2026-01-27 09:30:44 \\N Surgical and anesthetic techniques have evolved to allow a growing number of older adults to undergo surgery, and current estimates are that 50% of Americans over the age of 65 years old will have an operation. However, as the knowledge regarding perioperative care of the elderly surgical patient grows, so do the questions. In this edition, each chapter includes a section entitled “Gaps in Our Knowledge,” meant to highlight areas in which research is needed, as well as hopefully inspire readers to begin solving some of these questions themselves. Building upon the strong foundation of the first two editions, Geriatric Anesthesiology, 3rd edition also assembles the most up-to-date information in geriatric anesthesia and provides anesthesiologists with important new developments.Topics covered include several new chapters that reflect the evolution of multidisciplinary geriatric care throughout the perioperative continuum, as well as the growing body of literature related to prehabilitation. In addition, discussion of the surgeon’s perspective and geriatrician’s perspective on surgery in the geriatric population is covered, as well as the systematic physiologic changes associated with aging and the pharmacologic considerations for the geriatric patient undergoing procedures. Finally, the last section discusses postoperative care specific to the geriatric population, including acute pain management, ICU management, recent evidence and up-to-date practice regarding delirium and postoperative cognitive dysfunction, and palliative care. 9783319668789 2132085 0 14076.2 14780.04 9783319668789 https://thumbnails.kitaboo.in/temp/cover/9783319668789.jpg Geriatric Anesthesiology \\N EBOOK 2026-01-27 09:30:44 \\N \\N \\N \\N Anaesthetics \\N \\N \\N \\N \\N Medicine 9783319668789 \\N Springer International Publishing Geriatric medicine \\N \\N \\N \\N \\N 2017-10-27
40 1 35313 2026-01-05 17:34:06 0 https://thumbnails.kitaboo.in/publisher/logo/gardner.png Springer International Publishing /springer_international_publishing 1113511 1 Spyros G Tzafestas \\N ePub 5596 https://thumbnails.kitaboo.in/temp/cover/9783319669991.jpg 2026-01-27 09:30:45 \\N This unique book offers a comprehensive and integrated introduction to the five fundamental elements of life and society: energy, information, feedback, adaptation, and self-organization. It is divided into two parts. Part I is concerned with energy (definition, history, energy types, energy sources, environmental impact); thermodynamics (laws, entropy definitions, energy, branches of thermodynamics, entropy interpretations, arrow of time); information (communication and transmission, modulation–demodulation, coding–decoding, information theory, information technology, information science, information systems); feedback control (history, classical methodologies, modern methodologies); adaptation (definition, mechanisms, measurement, complex adaptive systems, complexity, emergence); and self-organization (definitions/opinions, self-organized criticality, cybernetics, self-organization in complex adaptive systems, examples in nature). In turn, Part II studies the roles, impacts, and applications of the five above-mentioned elements in life and society, namely energy (biochemical energy pathways, energy flows through food chains, evolution of energy resources, energy and economy); information (information in biology, biocomputation, information technology in office automation, power generation/distribution, manufacturing, business, transportation), feedback (temperature, water, sugar and hydrogen ion regulation, autocatalysis, biological modeling, control of hard/technological and soft/managerial systems), adaptation and self-organization (ecosystems, climate change, stock market, knowledge management, man-made self-organized controllers, traffic lights control). 9783319669991 2132086 0 23074.7 24228.47 9783319669991 https://thumbnails.kitaboo.in/temp/cover/9783319669991.jpg Energy, Information, Feedback, Adaptation, and Self-organization \\N EBOOK 2026-01-27 09:30:45 465027 1 2 Spyros G Tzafestas Cybernetics & systems theory \\N \\N \\N \\N \\N Intelligent Systems, Control and Automation: Science and Engineering 9783319669991 \\N Springer International Publishing Cybernetics & systems theory \\N \\N \\N \\N \\N 2018-01-03
40 1 35313 2026-01-05 17:34:06 0 https://thumbnails.kitaboo.in/publisher/logo/gardner.png Springer International Publishing /springer_international_publishing 1113512 1 NA \\N ePub 5596 https://thumbnails.kitaboo.in/temp/cover/9783319672779.jpg 2026-01-27 09:30:46 \\N In this thesis, the author investigates experimentally and numericallythe fracture behavior of an electron beam welded joint made fromtwo butt S355 plates. The 2D Rousselier model, the Gurson-Tvergaard-Needleman (GTN) model and the cohesive zone model (CZM) wereadopted to predict the crack propagation of thick compact tension (CT)specimens. Advantages and disadvantages of the three mentioned modelsare discussed. The cohesive zone model is suggested as it is easy to usefor scientists & engineers because the CZM has less model parametersand can be used to simulate arbitrary crack propagation. The resultsshown in this thesis help to evaluate the fracture behavior of a metallicmaterial. A 3D optical deformation measurement system (ARAMIS) andthe synchrotron radiation-computed laminography (SRCL) techniquereveal for the first time the damage evolution on the surfaceof the sampleand inside a thin sheet specimen obtained from steel S355. Damageevolution by void initiation, growth and coalescence are visualized in2D and 3D laminographic images. Two fracture types, i.e., a flat crackpropagation originated from void initiation, growth and coalescenceand a shear coalescence mechanism are visualized in 2D and 3D imagesof laminographic data, showing the complexity of real fracture. Inthe dissertation, the 3D Rousselier model is applied for the first timesuccessfully to predict different microcrack shapes before shear cracksarise by defining the finite elements in front of the initial notch withinhomogeneous f0-values. The influence of the distribution of inclusionson the fracture shape is also discussed. For the analyzed material, ahomogeneous distribution of particles in the material provides thehighest resistance to fracture. 9783319672779 2132087 0 11505.2 12080.49 9783319672779 https://thumbnails.kitaboo.in/temp/cover/9783319672779.jpg Springer Theses \\N EBOOK 2026-01-27 09:30:46 465028 1 1 Haoyun Tu Metals technology / metallurgy \\N \\N \\N \\N \\N Springer Theses 9783319672779 \\N Springer International Publishing Metals technology metallurgy \\N \\N \\N \\N 2017-10-12
40 1 35313 2026-01-05 17:34:06 0 https://thumbnails.kitaboo.in/publisher/logo/gardner.png Springer International Publishing /springer_international_publishing 1113513 1 \\N ePub 5596 https://thumbnails.kitaboo.in/temp/cover/9783319673318.jpg 2026-01-27 09:30:47 \\N When the first edition of this atlas was published in 2005, it was well received throughout the oculoplastic and ophthalmology community for its simplicity and clinical focus. Now, a decade later, surgical techniques have been updated to reflect current practice models and advances in technology.
