From Maine (Usa) to Mcmurdo (Antarctica) by Way of Mesquite (Nv)

From Maine to McMurdo by way of Mesquite is a collection of poems and a bit of prose. My wish for you is to read each poem slowly to experience the sights, sounds, and feelings as if you were with me while I did the writing. It wont happen with each selection, and perhaps not with the first reading; though there is definitely something for everyone in these pages. My first book, Art and Poetry from The Ice, was a small collection of poems done at McMurdo Station, Antarctica, and illustrated by a friend (who later became my husband); now thats a partnership!My early beginnings happened in a small farming community in Maine. I grew up with three brothers, two sisters and a whole community of friends and neighbors. Rural life was never dull. While I was in high school, our house and barn burned to the ground ... the good news ... no one was hurt, and my perspective changed dramatically.I have been writing poetry and prose for as long as I can remember ... though my collected poems only date back to early adulthood. Previously I would write ... and give the verse to the one who inspired it. My mother had quite a collection before our fire.As I travel, experience new places, and meet new people, I generally put my thoughts and feelings on paper. Hence - From Maine to McMurdo by way of Mesquite - I believe I am drawn to place names that begin with "M" because its the first letter of my first name. Also, I dont know of very many people who can run "M-M-M-M-s" together without thinking of something "yummy".With that ... Ill share my favorite phrase "Life is People" ... Enjoy ! -- ME
