The Wheels of Chance by H. G. Wells Written in the same vein as Three Men in a Boat, The Wheels of Chance is a comic novel by H. G. Wells. Written during a cycling craze that swept the nation in the late 1800s, the novel tells the tale of Mr. Hoopdriver, a drapers assistant who sets off on a cycling tour of the Southern Coast of England. Along the way, he encounters a young woman who ends up joining him on his ride.
