Thuvia, Maid of Mars

Thuvia, Maid of Mars is the fourth book in Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Barsoom series, published in 1920. This novel takes the story in a slightly different direction by shifting some of the focus away from John Carter, though he still plays a significant role. The protagonist of this book is Carthoris, the son of John Carter and Dejah Thoris, who steps into the spotlight as a heroic figure in his own right. The plot centers around Carthoris’ efforts to rescue Thuvia, a beautiful and courageous Martian princess, who has been captured by a rival faction. Thuvia is the daughter of the ruler of the Martian city of Ptarth, and her capture sets off a series of dangerous events that lead Carthoris on a perilous quest across Mars.
