Iron Butterfly is a story about thekidnapping of the female ParamountChief from Sierra Leone and thecourse of events that lead the daughterof a United States African-Americandiplomat to orchestrate her rescue. It is a story of conviction, faith, love,destiny and the wounds of war. Itis based on events that took placebetween 1980 and 1992. The event that inspired the author towrite Iron Butterfly occurred on thelast day of her visit to Liberia. Throughcustoms, the dead-eyes of the customsofficer challenged her papers. She wasonly allowed to go through after theintervention of her Liberian friend.
