Remnants

This was it: the day we reached eight billion people on the planet. There was no celebration. There was no change in our habits. There was no avoiding the inevitable. For the milestone that we reached was the breaking point that would damn us all. 'The 50/50 Outbreak' took effect and wiped out half of the world's population in the blink of an eye. This was Mother Nature's plan and it had succeeded. Whatever happened next...no one planned for that. As the remaining population endured new hardships of the post apocalyptic world, a new threat arose that would test us all like never before: Extinction.
